Memorial Day Madness

We had fun this weekend. We all got to spend time together, which did Layla a lot of good since she has been shuffled so much. The only thing that could have made it any better was having Harmonee home. Even though Layla and I were sick most of the weekend.

Each time I come home from the hospital Layla has learned something new! New words, new tricks, new games. She is learning so quick and growing so fast I can't wait until we can bring Harmonee home so we don't miss any of it! Layla can count to 10 and she is learning her manners. Her potty training is coming along fairly well with all of the interruptions and non consistent practice. Brandon teaches her so many different games while I am gone it is hard to keep up. I can't wait until she teaches those games to Harmonee!

We got news today that Brandon leaves to drill this week to prep for deployment, that he more then likely will be dragged to now. I feel so horrible for Brandon. He is heartbroken to know that he has missed out on Harmonee's first year with all of her hospital stays, but when he realizes that he will more then likely miss her second year as well is torture for him. He is such a good daddy. He has been there every step of the way through all of Harmonee's ups and downs, helped me, Layla and Harmonee stand. I would give anything to be a normal family, give Brandon a break from taking care of us and let me take care of him. But I guess we have already been through a parents worst nightmare, I am sure we can pull together and get through a deployment.

When life gives you Lemons...

She kept posing and smiling for the camera trying to get more and more pictures taken of her.. (I don't think it helped that daddy gave her a sugar cookie).

I went home again this weekend to spend some time with Lay. I figured since Harmonee is asleep most of the time, I would go home now, and be here for when Harmonee is more awake and ready to play!

Layla is having a hard time adjusting to mommy being gone most of the time. I took her to nursery today (this is her favorite thing to do) but she didn't look to thrilled about staying. When I told her I would be back, she gave me the "I'll stay if I have to, but I would rather go with you" look, her bottom lip poking out and quivering. As I knelt down to explain to her I would be back after church was over, she threw her arms around my neck... and we were off the relief society.
This weekend has been the weekend to remember! Saturday me and Brandon were going to go to Primary's to see Harm with a quick stop at the airport, and Brandon's reserve unit dinner that night. We had actually won a trip to the Bahamas, or Hawaii, the resort, food, and activities all paid for! On our way down to SLC, we realized we had forgotten something and turned around. On our way home we notice the car was starting to drive funny--the tire blew! After this Brandon had to give me a little pep talk "You need to think positive, we have each other, love each other. We have the girls. Layla is healthy and Harmonee is recovering." I love him. He always knows what to say. Needless to say, we did not get the trip, nor the dinner. Since we were not able to make it to Primary's, I though Harm could use the familiar voice. I called one of our best nurses from the infant unit to go see her--She was already on her way. I called Harm's PICU nurse to let her know what was going on, she agreed it was okay that her infant unit nurse come visit her. A little while later, our nurse called explaining that the PICU nurse would not let her in to see Harm! I hate it when she goes days with out hearing familiar voices.

To top it all off, I woke up today with a kinked neck, and to late to really get ready for church. A quick brush of the teeth and hair, I got Layla ready and we were off. Only to find once we had gotten to church that the doughnut tire was FLAT! While walking home I had to keep repeating what Brandon had told me. Luckily the rest of the day was relaxing!

He is a scruffy daddy... But he is a GREAT daddy!Got to see Princess Harmonee's eyes before going home on Friday!! Yay!

A Weekend at Home!

I decided I needed to make a blog about our whole family. If anyone knows our family... it is a crazy chaotic mess that none of us would change for the world! Layla, is most of the time shuffled from house to house while Brandon is at work. For those of you who don't know why... its because me and Harmonee are most of the time living at Primary Childrens Medical Center getting Harmonee tuned up enough to come home (hence the liver transplant this past week-YAY HARM)

No I am not complaining, just explaining. So I decided that Layla deserved a little part of the bragging action! Therefore... The Phillips Family blog. You see Layla is a very understanding, good natured little girl about the whole thing when she doesn't have to be. She loves her sister, worries about her, does what she has to do in order to get her little sis back home to play! Yeah... Layla is VERY mature for her age! My hope is to be able to let her act her age a little more when we are done with Harm's tune ups, and that she will teach Harm to be a normal little girl! Knowing Layla, I don't have to wish on anything, she will just do it. She is already an auntsy little two year waiting for her sis to come home so she can drag her around the house- fight over toys and just be sisters!
This was our weekend at home with our little Princess Layla:...

Blew bubbles in to the wind... hence Layla's face in the middle, She would make a good model

This is Layla's Modeling face!

Learned How to finger Paint....

Daddy Taught Layla how to ride her tric we got her for her birthday! So I got some snapshots of her!

We colored with all of Layla's New crayons she got for her birthday! She is doing pretty good at coloring in the lines!

And of course... Layla missed mommy so much, she had to sleep with us both nights! Which ment... NO room for mommy.

She is a little stinker to sleep with. She hits, kicks, snores, talks, twists, turns, laughs and of course... toots...
